Mandy Matula was tragically taken from her family, friends and teammates in May 2013. She was a proud and valued member of the Eden Prairie softball family. Not only was she a talented and fiery competitor during her days at Eden Prairie High School, but she paid her success forward by coaching young players who wanted to be just like her.
Mandy went on to play college softball at the University of Minnesota - Duluth. Her number 14 has been retired at UMD to honor Mandy's memory.
Eden Prairie Eagles Softball program continues to honor Mandy's memory with helmet patches and on-field banners. If you look closely, you sometimes will also see the number 14 written on a player's arm surrounded by a heart. We treasure her memory both as a softball player and as a person.
